Your rights under OPRA in NJ
Under the open records act in NJ you are entitled to receive within 7 days a wide array of information. There are some limited privacy exclusions. As applied to real estate, you can request the assessor’s property card for any property in your town or other towns.Tax appeal data and the outcomes of such appeals are usually available and can be requested. SR1A is the list of all property sales in the town. The list is usually available at the assessor’s office. Under OPRA meetings that are not open to the the public can be challenged. There are very specific reasons for Governmental bodies to hold such closed meetings. The public is entitled to know why and when will the deliberations become public.
